Fitch Predicts Tinubu’s Victory in 2023 Election

Fitch Solutions Country Risk & Industry Research, a subsidiary of global rating organization Fitch Ratings, has predicted the victory of All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 election.

However, in its report published on Saturday, the agency expressed fears of a political quarrel in Nigeria with supporters of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flag-bearer Atiku Abubakar and his Labor Party counterpart Peter Obi following the electoral success of the APC candidate riots could occur. and others take to the streets to protest the election results.

It also downplayed recent predictions from Bloomberg and an NGO linked to former Stanbic IBTC chairman Atedo Peterside about Obi’s victory.

The company also urged Nigerians not to expect any major policy changes in Tinubu’s presidency, particularly on fuel subsidies.

The report read: Indeed, we maintain our view that the ruling party’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the candidate most likely to win the presidential election, as a divided opposition vote will favor the All Progressives Congress. Protests and social unrest are likely to increase after a Tinubu victory, as it would end the recent trend of Muslim-Christian rotation in the presidency.
