Corruption is at the root of Nigeria, nay, Africa’s development. Unless strict, hard, tough laws are in place to check corruption, it will destroy Nigeria.
Considering the contributions of football veterans to our social development, and the subsequent humiliation they are subjected to by officials of Nigeria’s ministry of sports and past ministers, it’s time that the EFCC should focus on the activities of government agencies in charge of sports management.
Yesterday, Nigeria was awakened to the rude news of the death of Christian Chukwu, former player and captain of Nigeria’s Green Eagles. As I write this piece, not one clip of all the matches that Christian Chukwu featured in is available to any television station in Nigeria!
It’s on record that past Federal Governments approved the budget proposals of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, specifically to purchase reels to record her programmes.

If it were possible to turn back the hands of the clock, I would prefer that the EFCC should arrest and prosecute all past General Managers of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, for the fraud they perpetrated against Nigeria, by recycling and recording football matches and other sports events on already used reels albeit provision of the necessary funds to buy reels. The funds were stolen by past Director Generals of the NTA – I stand by my allegations. If not, past DG’s of the NTA should come out to defend why there is not one (1) reel of the Village Headmaster, New Masquerade, Iche-Oku, Cock Crow At Dawn and all past matches of the Green Eagles, etcetera.
There’s no way these past DG’s will escape jail if they are charged for corruption in a competent Court! They are nothing but thieves who should be thrown into jail.
By today, especially after the death of Christian Chukwu yesterday, matches of his Green Eagles days should be trending across Nigerian television stations but the acts of corruption by past NTA DG’s have deprived Nigerians the joy of watching and celebrating their legends through watching videos of their past games.
Corruption has held Nigeria down from achieving and attaining developmental greatness.
