Breaking: ASUU Ready To Call Off Strike

The president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Professor Osodeke, has hinted that ‘there’s light ahead of the tunnel’.

The lead counsel to ASUU, Femi Falana, SAN, had explained that the strike would be over in a few days.

Following Processor Osodeke’s hint, branches of ASUU across the nation are expected to vote ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ on whether the strike should be called off.

Recall that the Speaker of the House of Representative, Femi Gbajabiamila, held a meeting with the leadership of ASUU.

Last week, Gbajabiamila meet with President Buhari, and submitted the report of his team with ASUU leaders to the president.

On her part, ASUU’s president, Professor Osodeke, has hinted that ‘there’s light ahead of the tunnel’ and that the strike would soon be called off.

However, it could not be confirmed if President Buhari has changed his position on the ‘no work, no pay rule’ not to pay ASUU’s 8 months salaries but the hint given by Professor Osodeke may be an indication that there’s improvement on its negotiation with the federal government.
