President Tinubu, Release #EndBadGovernance Minors

The logic of reasoning clearly states that there must be an element of ’cause and effect’ for any crime to occur.

The protest that these minors are alleged to have participated in is driven by hunger and inability to afford food, no thanks to the soaring prices of food stuff as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy. Also, the failure of government to prioritize the welfare of citizens is another reason for the protest.

The attempts to put the minors through a sham trial over alleged ‘treason’ is a reflection of the mindset of Justice Obiora Egwuatu, the judge that handled their case. Also, the Federal Government’s utter disregard for the rule of law is not helping matters.

It’s laughable that these minors are charged for treason – attempting to overthrow the government of president Tinubu. Also, the reasons adduced by the prosecution for their prosecution is unconvincing but a deliberate ploy to commit them to jail.

We sincerely believe Justice Obiora Egwuatu is a father. How would he feel tonight as he lays on his bed to sleep, knowing fully well that the N10m bail he granted to each of the 67 children brought to his court today cannot be met by them? As a father, and as a judge, Justice Egwuatu has the power to use his discretion to serve justice with a human face by giving less, hard conditions for their bail.

We call on President Tinubu, to order the immediate, unconditional release of these children, especially considering the fact that he ordered the dropping of all charges and unconditional release of the United States citizen and Binance executive, Mr.Tigran Gambaryan, that was accused of economic sabotage.

The trail of these children, whether they are convicted or discharged unconditionally, will say a lot about the humane character of President Tinubu. Leadership without empathy and forgiveness is nothing but a total disregard for the spirit of forgiveness.

Putting minors on trial for protesting lack of food and hunger will not make Tinubu a president that is tough and manly. President Tinubu should not allow this matter to drag a day longer before ordering the release of these children – granting these children unconditional freedom will define the person of the president.

There are times that man is given an opportunity by God to replicate his love and kindness to his fellow men. This is the moment for President Tinubu to replicate God’s love.
