PDP Crisis: I Won’t Resign, Ayu Tells Wike

The National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, has that he will not resign due to calls from Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike.

The PDP chairman said he was elected by party members based on the party’s constitution.

Replying to a question by the BBC Hausa Service, Ayu said even if he eventually resigns, those who are calling for his resignation will not succeed him.

He said the calls for his resignation by Governor Wike and his group are from people who were children when he joined others to form the PDP, “Wike and members of his camp are mere noise makers. They are children who were not around when we laboured to form the PDP.

Ayu said the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as the choice of the PDP in the 2023 presidential election, does not affect his position as chairman.
