Breaking: Wike’s ‘G5’ Group Meets In Spain

The Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State have travelled to Spain.

While in Spain, they are expected to hold strategic meetings on recent developments in the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

On Friday, the PDP National Working Committee, NWC, through it chairman, former senate president, Adolphus Wabara, indirectly supported the continued stay in office of Iyorchia Ayu as party chairman.

Wabara said, “The chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, will assure the party that he will step down after the 2023 general elections”.

Wike noted that there would be no peace in the party if Ayu doesn’t resign, he said, “A situation where the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the national chairman (Ayu) come from the same zone does not make for equity, fairness and justice.”

Political watchers say the Spain visit is expected to formulate strategic plans to counter Ayu’s stay in office as PDP chairman by the group, otherwise described as the ‘G5’.
