Wike is in the eye of the storm, following his disagreement with the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar’s choice of Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as his presidential running mate.

Atiku Abubakar arrived London yesterday but his spokesman said he is in London for a business meeting but political watchers say he may have a meeting with Wike to resolve the lingering crisis that arose from his choice of Okowa as his presidential running mate.

Governor Wike had made demands to Atiku that the PDP chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, should resign his appointment. Also, Wike demanded that Atiku should sign an agreement that he will only run for president for one term; key official ministerial portfolios for members of his group in the incoming PDP government in 2023. Atiku is said to have insisted that Iyorchia Ayu will only resign his position after the elections are concluded in 2023.

It is hoped that the demand of Wike will be addressed at the meeting between him and Atiku.
