DISCOS Move Lagos Residents To Band A Tariff – Other States To Be Moved To Band A
Electricity distribution companies, DICOS, like the proverbial thief of the night, the Ikeja Electric Distribution Company, IKEDC, surreptitiously increased the electricity tariff of consumers in the Ipaja area of Lagos state to Band A.
Just yesterday, the Eko electricity distribution company, EKEDC, increased the electricity tariff of Surulere, Lawanson, Ijesha and Itire axis to Band A tariff.
After the onslaught of President Tinubu’s removal of fuel subsidy, and the foisting of poverty on Nigerians, Mr. President has indirectly given his tacit approval to DISCOS to further pauperize and impoverish Nigerians with poverty!
Nigerians should gird their loins. Like water seeping into a leaking boat, this will escalate and replicated across Nigerian cities. Nigerians must brace up for the DISCOS transferring them to Band A, not for any reasons of improvement in electricity supply but purely for reasons to generate more money at the expense of Nigerians who pay for darkness, rather than for regular supply of electricity!
Nigerians are still battling with the consequences of the removal of fuel subsidy, especially with the recent coming on board of the Dangote Refinery Limited, DRL, the expected saviour of Nigerians from the criminal, man-made fuel scarcity, especially with the ignominious role of the NNPCL as a middleman and distributor of the DRL refined petrol. Unashamedly, the NNPCL has deliberately avoided discussing the open-ended, never-ending maintenance/repair work of her Porthacourt, Warri and Kaduna refineries!
The manner by which Nigerians are daily impoverished by ‘Tinubunomics’, by 2027 the waistline of the people will shrink thinner and thinner, with no waist left for further belt-tightening!
